Maya Ward has lived most of her life in the inner-city of Melbourne, in Yarra River country. Her first book, The Comfort of Water, published in 2011 by Transit Lounge, was selected by the State Library as one of six books to represent Victoria for the National Year of Reading 2012. Maya has worked variously as an urban designer, permaculture teacher and environmental educator, public art designer, musician, performer, festival director, poet and writer. Currently she is living in Warburton, planting vegies and beginning a PhD in Creative Writing at La Trobe University.

She is available for talks about the Yarra and her pilgrimage for community groups and interest groups, so feel free to contact her.
