Walking the Mountains of Home 2026 – Donna Buang

For the twelfth year running we are hosting our community pilgrimage Walking the Mountains of Home. This year we walk Mt Donna Buang, our beautiful mother-mountain clothed in fertile rainforest, who, for aeons, has watched over the Valley.
The first part of the walk (3.2km) meets on the river by Martyrs Rd near the golf course. This first section is very steep and sometimes slippery so this will be for you only if you are a super-keen walker. We will be leaving Warby by around 8am. Contact Maya to coordinate 0403256165.
Those wanting an easier walk or coming with children we will meet at 10.00am on the river behind the playground next to Three Sugars. We then car pool up to the Donna Buang road crossing (about 800m before the 10 mile car park). Hopefully the timing will be right to meet the earlier walkers here.
The walk then goes via Mt Victoria and along the saddle to the summit.
Contact Cat 0403 334 808 to coordinate for this part of the walk.
Both teams will carry river stones to the summit to contribute to our community cairn, a symbol of our love and commitment to our place.
Bring snacks, water, good shoes, warm clothes, a picnic lunch to eat at the top, and extra warm things as the summit is often many degrees colder than down below.
We can carpool back down or if you’re keen you can walk all the way back to Birrarung. We will aim to be back down by mid afternoon.
All are welcome so spread the word! Contact us for more information.
