Walking the Mountains of Home – Mount Little Joe
For the seventh year running, Cat and I are hosting community walks into the mountains that surround the village of Warburton. These walks are about leaving behind the human dominated places to meet the wild and ancient ones who have been here forever. Every year we meet different animal, insects and local flora, learning from each other and enjoying the companionship of place and community. Everyone’s invited!
For this walk, we’ll be exploring our gorgeous Mount Little Joe. This year we are doing it a bit differently – we will meet in the garden of Symphony 36, right on the banks of the Yarra, for those who would like a coffee, and will head off on the walk at 10.30. We’ll walk up and over the western side of the mountain, ending up in Wesburn, aiming to get to The Flying Apron by 1pm where we can have some food if desired and then take the bus back or carpool.
The walk is very steep in parts and if it’s wet will be slippery. Please dress appropriately and wear shoes with good grip. Bring snacks and water and your own first aid needs – this is a community walk, and everyone must be responsible for their own safety.
This will be a chance to see the routes of the proposed mountain bike trails and ponder the impact of these significant changes.
